Cooking Fatigue is Real. Here’s How to Eat without Cooking.

When quarantine first happened, it was scary, but it was a chance for all of us to take a much-needed pause from the hustle and bustle of normal life. Getting used to being at home was challenging. Home quickly became the office, school, and even the playground, but one of the biggest challenges—constant cooking.

According to a study conducted last May, over 56% of people eat out up to three times per week, and 10% eat out four to six times per week. Let’s say you fall somewhere in the middle of that. You’re eating out four times a week, leaving you with just three days of cooking at home.

Three days have now turned to every day.

At first, it was exciting—cookbooks were dusted off from the bottom of the bookshelf and put to use. TikTok brought us endless *easy* breakfast recipes to try and make our mornings a little more exciting. Everyone (all at the same time) decided they wanted to test out their baking skills, making flour and yeast an even more hot commodity than hand sanitizer.

Yes, it was fun for a while. But now, your days look a little something like this:

Breakfast: Wake up and think about what to make for breakfast. You drudge yourself to the kitchen and settle for a cup of coffee.

Lunch: Think about what to make for lunch. After opening and closing the refrigerator doors 50+ times, you give up, walk to the pantry, and polish off that bag of chips you’ve been working on all week.

Dinner: Think about what to eat for dinner. The thought of firing up the oven or stove makes you cringe internally. You order delivery instead.

Cooking fatigue is real.

It’s real, it’s here, and it’s coming for you.

What is cooking fatigue?

You can probably guess that it’s something that a professional chef never experiences, but it’s something the average American in quarantine does. Cooking every meal every day is exhausting, and quite frankly, it’s not normal.

Well, it’s 2020, and food has come a long way. There are a few things that can help us combat cooking fatigue, but still get the nutrition we need—no apps, no phone, no takeout required.

How to eat without cooking.

What a weird thought to have—either you have to cook or have someone else cook for you. There’s no way you can eat without cooking, right?

Yes, there is. It’s called Soylent.

Over the past SEVEN years (yes, seven), we have perfected the art of engineering complete, convenient, science-based food. Our shakes, drinks, and bars give you the nutrition you need to stay full without picking up a pan, spatula, or even a fork.

We’ve packed the same nutrients, plus a little extra goodness, into every serving. So, whether you’re experiencing cooking fatigue or literally out of food, Soylent can be a stand-in.

Soylent vs Takeout

Why would you choose Soylent when you can get a five-star meal delivered right to your door? It’s a valid question, but there are some obvious holes in that well thought out plan.

Not all takeout is made equally (or with any nutritional value in mind)
Did your favorite restaurant just release a new *fully loaded* burrito that you’re dying to try? Of course, it did! It’s okay to splurge on these items every once in a while, but eating out every day can come with some consequences for your health.

Cooking your own meals is the best way to know exactly what you’re eating. But, we’ve already established that you’re sick of that. So, the next best thing is a nutritional shake like Soylent.

Inside every bottle or scoop of powder, you have the power to know exactly what you’re ingesting—a complete meal.

Every single product that we produce is scientifically calculated with the nutrients your body needs to thrive. Plus, it tastes good. There are no hidden fats, carbs, sugars or calories—you know exactly what you get.
Takeout will drain your bank account—fast.
It’s all fun and games until you realize that you’re spending half your paycheck on delivery fees. We’ve all been there—we load up our cart with a little of this and a little of that. All of a sudden, our total has entered double or even triple digits after taxes, fees, and delivery.

Takeout is expensive—plain and simple.

Since day one, our mission has been to make complete nutrition affordable and accessible to all. We have recently reduced our price to make our classic powder just $1.50 per meal. Try finding anything on your takeout apps for $1.50. You won’t.

Our 7-pack in both original and cacao flavors are a great source of nutrition to have on hand. In every $1.50 serving, you’ll get 20g of protein, 39 essential nutrients, and slow-burning carbs to keep you full and satisfied for hours. It’s vegan and gluten-free, too.
Takeout isn’t great for the environment, either.
In the United States, takeout orders account for over 269,000 tons of plastic waste that enters our oceans every year. Plastic bags, forks, containers—all of it take a toll on our world. Times are tough right now, and takeout might seem like the only option to get a break from cooking, but it’s not.

Soylent was born out of the desire to use science to create a nutrient-dense, sustainable food option that can be available and accessible for all. From the ingredients inside the bottle to the bottle itself, every part of Soylent is made consciously. The health of your body and the health of the planet are our top priorities.

Switching plastic-heavy takeout to a sustainable, and better-for-you Soylent can help save the precious resources we need for a healthy, thriving planet.
Can I use Soylent for every meal?

Wait, wait, wait—back up a minute. While cooking fatigue may have really taken a toll on you, Soylent can be used any time.  Breakfast, lunch, a snack.  You get it, complete nutrition anytime you need.

Our nutritional shakes were created to give you a complete meal in an easy-to-use, no-cooking-required format. So, rather than skipping a meal or ordering something that will haunt you later, choose a great tasting Soylent product.

If waking up is especially hard for you, get a burst of energy and a burst of caffeine with our Cafe line. We’ve engineered a jitter-free, delicious formula that is designed to help you get to the best version of yourself faster and with less effort. Even though we’re not putting effort into much these days, you can remain present in emails, on the couch, or for your newly developed homeschooling routine.

Using Soylent as one or two meals a week can be a great way to combat cooking fatigue. You will spend less time in the kitchen, making mealtime special again when you actually want to cook.

Starting slow will also help your body adjust to a new food source. Once you’re acclimated to Soylent, you can start adding more to your weekly or daily routines.

How to get Soylent.

Just like ordering any other of your favorite foods, you simply go online, pick your favorite flavor and formula, and hit order. We’ll ship Soylent right to your door—this applies to Canadians, too! Reduce your cooking and your spending now with Soylent.
